Studies by the European Environment Agency show that more than 90% of urban EU citizens are exposed to pollutants at levels beyond threshold values as specified by the World Health Organisation. To increase awareness about air pollution and to provide the European public with up-to-date air quality information, the European Commission initiated the obsAIRve project.
